Any of you guys ever been over to James Randi's website (www.randi.org)? Aside from my wife's blog (http://heissescheisse.blogspot.com) the most fun you can have on the internet with irrationality-bashing.

Oh yeah, and it's pretty anti-religious, too. Which is a good thing, if you ask me.

Oh, also, measurable warming (mean tempurature) over time has been verified in various regions on the planet. Measurable cooling has been verified in others. But general warming, as in _GLOBAL_ warming, has not been verified in the slightest, which would mean measurable warming over the entire planet.

Global warming is an hypothesis. Moreover, even if it attains the status of theory where its predictions are verified by observation over and over (as genuine theories are), there is still the matter of what causes it (i.e., climatology, natural phenomena, or man's activities).

As I said, I used to like them. They're just something else that's turned into complete shit, which is a general trend I've noticed.

You're all right, though. I'm not indicting you or atheism, just the shabby impulse that thinks slander by association (even very tenuous association) is legitimate.

The only reason people want evolution seen as "just a theory" is so they can introduce Creationism as "just a theory", as if that gave it equal merit for being taught in public schools.

Stalinism is a religion. It has a God, it has a Devil, it has Prophet(s), it has Desciples, it has the Heathen, it has Heretics, it has the Saved and the Damned, and it has the Pope. Hell, it even has the Bible. What more does a religion need?

I was originally going to comment on DHMO. Is that ignorance hook still going around? I thought it had ended by now.

Well, sure, if he said that then he's off base. Thing is, I bet he'd be the first to cop to it if you brought it up. In watching the show, he's quite honest. I could give examples.

Nonetheless, religious belief of any degreee and any sort is irrational. Simple fact. Of course, that's not to say that we all don't engage in a pet irrationality or two.
