Hillary! Always just chock full of "ideas," isn’t she? So how "populist" is America, these days? Hillary! thinks it’s a lot populist.
I like the idea of giving every baby born in America a $5,000 account
that will grow over time," Clinton said to applause at a Congressional
Black Caucus forum.
Who doesn’t "like the idea of giving every baby born in America $5,000?" This sort of focus on one side of the equation is classic populist politics, of course. To people with more than half a brain, it means
taking stealing it from some, and giving it to others. Of course, Hillary! is from the side of the isle that caters to the half-brain types of the populist, steal-from-the-rich (to give to the poor) crowd. The other side is half-brained too, only their half is focussed on perpetual war of one sort or the other (drugs, homos, non-Christians, etc.).
When I saw that item last week I didn’t even think to blog it. For one,
it’s ridiculous — though it’s not as though I can’t envision a future
decades hence, where that $5,000 becomes an American birthright just
like Social Security and all the rest. You know, a day when "Americans"
can’t even remember or even imagine a time when $5,000 wasn’t stolen
from the neighborhood in order to open a college fund for newborn
But something told me this would be a flash in the pan. She’s just
floating an idea to see if it has any legs. If Americans are that
stupid, she’ll certainly take it. If not, the news media will be happy
to never bring it up again, as if it didn’t even happen. So this
morning, McQ points to this news item: "Voters Reject Clinton Baby Bond Proposal By 2-to-1 Margin."
And sure enough, I’m not finding a lot of news about either the proposal or about this "rejection" (yea, we’ll see). And we’ll see if her opponents can keep it alive.
