I'm not going to get into the underlying ethics and political implications of this. The purpose is merely to understand what's going on.
This is essential reading by Warren Meyer on how the Y2K hysteria prefigures the AGW hysteria. Read it. Understand it. Integrate it.
That is all.

Hi. Your site is interesting reading, and makes me wish the info was available 25 years ago when my father was taken by cancer. Also, just wanted to let you know someone is out here reading your stuff
It gets kinda lonely with no comments
Glad you are getting to reduce your meds, and I will send some healing energy your way.

Well of course as an IT guy, one should be honest and admit that one huge reason why Y2K is looked at as a non-event was the billions of dollars and countless man-hours that we spent fixing the problem. No one knows what would have happened otherwise because we didn't hide our head in the sand.
Which of course is what people are trying to so with global warming. The parallel here isn't accurate.
Well in the former case, whatever really was the extent of the problem, what went into fixing it, and how much was wasted energy will never be known completely.
All that's known for sure is that it was a man-made problem with a certain man-made solution.
That's far from being known in the latter.
