Since I tend to throw these up whenever, I guess I'm going to have to change the category to just: Rock You.
But for now, it is Sunday. Rush, The Necromancer, from Caress of Steel. It's set to The Lord of the Rings scenes with good audio.
Here's a version in very low-quality B&W video, but it's live.

Good stuff. Being of celtic decent, with the scotts being half-brothers, I always have had a think for ac/dc. I’d love to see them singing “It’s a long way to the top if you wanna rock n roll, bagpipes and all, on a flatbed truck!
This is awesome Richard. I just actually picked up LotR again recently (on The Two Towers – 5th or 6th read through? I’m a nerd…)
Definitely feeling the vibe with the video accompaniment. I’ll put this up there with Battle of Evermore and Ramble On for awesome Middle Earth/Middle Earth Inspired music
Richard, what Rush album would you recommend as a starting point?
Well, the first album I got was Hemispheres. You can see the whole list here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rush_(band)
That’s OK, but by far from my favorite. And I think I misplaced it early on, anyway. What really got me into them was not a regular album but a live album of some of their best: Exist Stage Left. Then, of course, the first album: Rush (sometimes called ‘the pink album). Caress of Steel, and all the early stuff.
You might go to iTunes or wherever you typically do that sort of thing to listen to clips. Better yet, fire up Pandora and have it play a bunch of Rush for you and see what you like. In general, I like the pre-’85 stuff — but that’s perhaps because that’s what I’m most familiar with.
Many thanks. Ditto for the blog and recipes.
Hi Richard,
I just found your blog and it was amazingly timely for me as I with everyone had a New Years resolution to “get in shape”. I’ve got a long way to go at 6′ and 270# but I am so much more optimistic after finding your blog. I must admit that the day I found it I stayed up until the wee hours of the night reading your archives, it all just makes so much more sense to me. I have a couple questions (with more to follow I am sure) and one comment.
Q1. Do you have any guidelines on bacon and sausage? Do I need to use only uncured/untreated bacon or can I just get some decent bacon from Whole Foods?
Q2. How soon would you recommend introducing IF after switching to this food lifestyle? Is there a weening period from the carbs that attempting a fast before would be a recipe for disaster?
And finally my comment, I love your site with one nit pick. I’ve been reading through the archives and say I pick a month, it lands me on a page with a few posts but to get to the beginning of the months post I have to click “previous entries” like 6-7 times. It would be much nicer if the links to the monthly archives land you at the beginning of the month than the end. Not sure if that is possible.
Thank you!
Hey Marc. This is what I live for, seeing people ‘get it.’
First off I like to follow the 80-90% rule, i.e., don’t sweat the small stuff too much, particularly at the beginning. Better you see results and feel better so that this becomes an eating, fasting, brief-intense workout lifestyle. You will have plenty of time to self-experiment, refine, and if you like, purify, by which I mean making gradual improvements in terms of quality (local organic fruits & veggies, pastured eggs, grassfed meats & wild caught fish, etc.).
So, preferable would be uncured stuff and with sausage, gluten and sugar free. But it’s not a HUGE deal at the beginning, in my view. And don’t discount leftover meats from the night before for breakfast & even lunch (on a salad, or with some raw veggies like cauliflower, celery, radishes and so on). This makes things a lot easier when you put time & quality into the evening meal and make enough for your one or two meals the next day (with some variations such as with eggs, canned sardines, raw veggies, etc.
As to fasting, it just depends on you. Give it a try. It would certainly speed up your carb withdrawal phase.
Yea, I know about the archives. I’ll put in a ticket and see what can be done.
Thanks Richard,
I love Rush. 2112
I wish you and all your friends and family a very Happy New Year.
