My Book Gets Another 1-Star Review

I love the Internets. A recent 1-Star Amazon review of my book content, all the chapters.

By S.K. "book addict"

This man is a mess and I gave up on the book. He's eating hot dogs and corn tortillas but writing about a Paleo diet? WTF?!! Then he calls women the "c" word because they don't like the bs he's putting out on his blog? Once I read that and saw the discrepancy between his life and his book, I threw the book away. If he's an expert, I'm the Pope. He's an egotistical, woman-hating, carb-loving hypocrite and his book wasn't anything you couldn't find for free on the internet.

Here's his May 23, 2012 post from his blog (I put asterisks where the offending word should be): "While "femmes importantes" are now setting their sites on the "sins" of the great Robert Lustig...because, hey, that's what happens when you have no value to add to anyone, pretending instead you offer value by tearing down value...I'm off on a different track, and will continue to do so. It was fun engaging the c*** while it lasted.... Onward"

This is the man I spent my money to support? Never again.

I love the Internets. I trust you know why.

Free The Animal is supported by readers like yourself shopping Amazon and CLICKING HERE to do so. Costs you nothing but sure helps out around here quite a lot. Always appreciated.

  1. Okay, okay, I’ll come clean.

I wrote that review and I stand behind it 100%. Except for the part where I forgot to capitalize BS, that’s a mistake I will carry to my grave.

Don’t you dare mock me you carb-loving hypocrite!

  2. …Jesus.

Now, does everyone see what I’m reduced to, to get Sean to come drop a comment here, anymore?

Considering what a cunt Richard can be at times I think he’s done fairly well on Amazon reviews overall. How many people get good reviews from the likes of Nassim Taleb?

  4. “How many people get good reviews from the likes of Nassim Taleb?”

    Fooled by Randomness!

  5. I’ll give you 1 star for putting an apostrophe in “gets”.

Speaking of books, Richard, what’s your view (if you have one) on Jimmy’s “Cholesterol Clarity”?

  7. @john

Ok, we’ll deserved, especially for a short post.

    @elmm

Well, I guess I’m one of the priviledged. Tough call for me, I don’t think C is any more worrisome if you generally eat a real food diet that anything else one might measure. To me, it’s so 2009. And, I’m also sensitive to the notion that Jimmy, et al, just want to boost an LC lifestyle by proxy.

But mainly, I don’t care about C in the context of a real food diet, and so, I’m still torn and have not decided. I suspect I’ll give him a blurb along with a bunch of other books I have been sent and not reviewed, and let people judge themselves.

I’m very tired of being perceived as any kind of any authority on anything,

Nobody understands. I just like to write shit. A lot.

  8. EatLessMoveMoore says:

Well judging by the gnashing of teeth among his critics, one can’t help but wonder if this’ll be the thing that finally pushes him over into Wolf-/Sisson-land.

  9. Now you’re being ridiculous.

Jimmy is Jimmy. He’s far too invested, too many friends, too much access. That’s not to say I think LC is wrong. I just think it’s woefully incomplete and everyone needs to recongnize Atkins is dead, he was a successful cardiologist clinician–and nobody will ever know the difference between his books and his specific advice to all patients–but it’s time to move on and integrate all knowledge we can get.

The essential difference, ELMM, is that I can bring myself to an understanding of what’s going on, how glaciers move, etc.
