I’ve been ramping up creating cooking videos for my new Patreon venture. I’ve rolled out a few already which I’ll be posting here as well, and I have a backlog of about a half dozen. So, off and running. I’m enjoying it and yes, I do have work to do refining video presentation, though without a lot of fluff. Goal is to keep the videos focused on the food, 5-10 minutes each.
…Well, let’s say Modified Potato Hack. If you don’t know what the potato hack is, just Google the term, or, potato diet. Essentially, it’s intended to be a short-term intervention done periodically to lose weight, maintain weight in your ideal range, or even to achieve a better sodium to potassium ratio which tends to lower blood pressure in most people.
The pure potato hack is intended to be boiled or baked potatoes with spices and condiments only as your exclusive caloric intake. It works because potatoes only (not fried or deep fried) are one of the most satiating foods ever tested in controlled conditions; meaning, most people can’t eat enough of them to maintain energy balance and profound weight loss is the result.
- 10-12 medium russet potatoes, peeled and quartered (optional…you can leave skins or some skins on if you prefer)
- 2 medium or 1 huge yellow onion(s), chopped
- 1/2 pound bacon, chopped and fried to crispy bacon bits, drained of fat
- Half handful of dried parsley
- 2-3 cups 1% milk
- Salt and pepper to taste
