Foremost, I have blogged about my path to fitness in order to hold myself accountable. Honestly, I've tried to make a go of it many times in the past, always falling away, always ending up worse. The one thing I stuck with was the morning walk, 3.5 miles, 5 days per week (which I still do). Over the next five years I walked over 5,000 miles and gained 30 pounds.
Walking alone won't do it, at least not for 'only' an hour per day. Maybe two? Perhaps, but why not just an hour per week in two intense gym sessions, a good diet of real food, and perhaps some intermittent fasting that's good for you anyway?
At any rate, whether it's the accountability, the ease, simplicity, and enjoyment of this new Life Way, or some combination of all, it's here to stay.
There's another aspect as well. Turns out that by holding myself accountable to you, the reader, benefits not only me, but apparently others as well. Bea was telling me the other day that the wife of a longtime school-teacher friend of hers reads the blog religiously and gets benefit from it.
Then yesterday, this email:
Remember me? I sold your house on Cheryl. […] I had to tell you. . . My husband Dan and I sat on your blog site and your links for about 4 hours! Seriously, it was fascinating to say the least. My husband especially is really into this type of health stuff and is always experimenting with different diets.
Just wanted to say hi and to let you know that your blog is definitely being read and utilized so thank you!
That's just fantastic, and appreciated. Thanks, Helen, and for sure I remember.
If you live in the San Jose, CA area and need to sell or buy a home, I can highly recommend Helen Burke.
