The GoPro Hero 9 Black Is Just Crazy
I owned the first gen GoPro and I found it to be a PITA. I only used it one single time, for a hang gliding flight. It’s footage begins just after the 2 minute point.
I don’t care to elaborate on the things that made the 1st gen too much to work with, for me. Doesn’t matter. That was 9 years ago. I’m here to tell you about the latest and greatest. The new GoPro Hero 9 Black is a revolution by comparison.
Recently, I’ve been doing some driving on the motorbike here in South Phuket, Thailand, and out of a desire to show you the thrill and scenery, I got stuff to attach a camera to my helmet, both my Samsung A51 phone, and Canon SX730 HS point and shoot. But, the results in a high-action context are totally unsatisfactory—both in image stabilization and sound quality/noise filtering. It’s laughable. Plus, water makes them melt.
Examples of what would be cool, but for these problems the GoPro doesn’t have at all:

- FLYING PHUKET, THAILAND
- MOTORCYCLE RIDE TO WILSON’S CAFE, PHUKET
- UNE PETITE BALADE EN MOTO À LA BAGUETTE MAGIQUE
I’m not saying watch—and LISTEN to—all of that footage, above, unless you want to, but at least get an idea for comparison’s sake. The GoPro Hero 9 Black is a different experience for both user and those who take in the content produced.
