Zeroing In On Fasting
Circadian Rhythms but also, a Secret

… It’s time for me to pay up.
I’ve been doing posts that are either public or require a non-paying membership. But because of my annual Black Friday to New Year’s Day (BLACKTO25) sale, I’ve got a good number of new members. Time to do them a solid. Incidentally, I did a dumb when I set up this year’s sale. One checkbox. On checkout, everything was correct (pricing, subscription setup), but it also set the membership to expire at the same time the sale expires. That was easily fixed by unchecking a box. I also went and manually fixed all the new memberships that had been set up that way.
So no worries. Onward.
I’ve been enthused and vocal about fasting going back 16 years when I dropped about 50 pounds over the space of a year or so. While I did a pretty decent lowish-carb version of “paleo” (“paleo” for people living in tropical regions was entirely different, probably involving a lot of fruit dropping in their laps), I give a lot or most credit to the fact that for months, I did 2x 30hr fasts per week.
I’ve also always thought that fasting deserves a spot in everyone’s everyday lifestyle. That also happens to align with virtually every religious practice on earth. That’s no mystery to me. In fact, quite to the contrary, I consider it to be “ancient wisdom.”
But how to get good benefit but not cramp style too much, and especially social life, which is a core element of human psychology?
Such is my quest.
I see a lot of pushback out there about extended fasting that’s more than 24-48 hours, depending on the source. Methinks it’s partly motivated by bias and conflicts of interest. Because, no matter how little you’re charging for your book, program, app, or whatever, it’s greater than zero (>0) and fasting is zero cost and if you factor in food cost, it’s <0.
Gurus literally can’t compete (unless you start a fasting-advocacy business and charge for information and knowledge). Here’s the big difference in that, though: fasting-advocacy businesses are literally putting themselves out of business, while diet-regime advocates are promoting long-term management (growing their business). The more you know…
… With the help of a couple of AIs (our resident Grok for unlimited paying-member access) and Copilot, I’ve gathered some insight and commentary around the subject of Early Time-Restricted Feeding (eTRF). I’ll clue you in on the shortcomings of every study I’ve read. More importantly, I’ll clue you in on the Elephant in the Room that zero studies even address. Not a word I can find, but which I now believe it the BIG SECRET!
I’ll talk about eTRF from the most surprising and unique angle you’ve ever seen, with lots of photos.
I’m going to talk a little bit about extended water-fasting and dry fasting, for context.
I’m going to lay out my initial template for what I’m doing specifically, inviting others to try it and give input. My aim is to develop a pretty solid lifestyle plan for using fasting to both control weight and enhance the health benefits of fasting, which generally amounts to autophagy, stem-cells, gut, and my BIG SECRET. Or, you could say, cleaning, recycling, and rejuvenation.
… One more thing, and it’s a big thing. I’ve been doing something different in blogging lately and it’s pretty damn cool.
Rather than give people my “list of references” or links (that will become outdated and broken over time), I give them an AI prompt. That will not only be evergreen, it should get better, more complete, and more accurate over time.
10 years from now, they just paste that prompt into the AI of their choice and get a completely up-to-date picture, and far less than worried that it makes my original post bullshit, I celebrate that even more than if it makes me look like a prophet.
… Also, I’ll explain the equation I’m developing for obesity, with AI, along with 3,266 more words.
