Blogaversary: 10 Years and A Post Per Day

I missed my own Blogaversary. My first post was on November 2, 2003. 10 years and 13 days ago (no leap year quibbling). It wasn’t long, but I wrote this.

Well, It’s a start. For several years I have wanted to create a website to serve as the primary outlet for my ideas and commentary. So this is it, a weblog.

Will anything really become of it? Don’t know.

I’m not setting any goals or making any promises. I’d like to think I will spend some constructive time at this, but I guess we’ll see. I may also archive some of the other stuff I’ve written over the years.

Purpose. Well, it’s my outlet, and as such, I don’t think I’ll be opening up any of my posts to comments. I will be frank, as always. I’ll probably use some “naughty words” here and there, too. Good thing I have no plans on running for political office.

That’s good in another respect too. One of the things this blog will serve is a way to compile and organize my unconventional philosophic, religious, and political ideas.

Now, it’s time to go forth and look around for something to get all worked up about…

Do the math and that’s 3,663 days. Here’s a screen clip of my dashboard.

So, this makes post 3,663. A post per day over more than 10 years, 99% of them substantive.

Wow.

Since Covid killed my Cabo San Lucas vacation-rental business in 2021, this is my day job. I can't do it without you. Memberships are $10 monthly, $20 quarterly, or $65 annually. Two premium coffees per month. Every membership helps finance this work I do, and if you like what I do, please chip in. No grandiose pitches.

Your dashboard says comments and approved comments are the same number. How is that so? I know some of my comments have been deleted and so have many of Wooo’s.

Oh jesus christ already. if they’re deleted, they aren’t in the database. Every comment in the database is an approved comment and there are zero pending approval and zero in the spam folder currently.

Guess you don’t understand this post, either. What, now I have to explain to you how WordPress works?

Congratulations on the milestone by the way. You have a very active mind and I like that you share your thoughts on your blog.

I found your website through Art De Vany in 2005 and have read ever since. Learnt so much along the way and its been a springboard to visiting many other sites too numerous to mention. Its one of the few blogs I keep returning to. Its been a fascinating journey – thank you.

Congrats Richard, I’d like to thank you for all the hard work and great posts over the years.
I don’t always agree 100% with everything you put out, but you always get me to think.

    Best Regards,
    Josh

  9. […] seriously and argue passionately. I was on the Internet way back in the day doing that. Finally, I started a blog in 2003, just over 10 years ago. That’s a little over 3,650 days and I’ve put up just that many posts—an average of a post […]

  10. […] myself: anything useful there? I chew often on changing this & that, and always soldier on like I've done for 10 years…knowing no other way to be. And, knowing change will happen and that it will be subtle. I never […]
