“Attractive Logic”
I think that’s about right.
Mostly I just think that as human beings, we don’t change things personally and we don’t do it collectively until something really motivates us to change it. It’s not about freedom, or anything like that. If people perceive they’re doin’ alright, they simply aren’t going to change anything.
What we do is pretend as though we’re changing things — enthusiasm for Obama’s campaign with its vacuous and nebulous calls for "change" as exhibit one.
One might entertain the notion of a Hillary! as president if only to see what America is really made of. My guess: not a whole lot. Not anymore.

WHAT IT'S ABOUT AND HOW IT WORKS
Free The Animal is an eclectic writing project about everything since November 2003. 23 years, 5,500 posts, 5 million words.
It's a paid membership blog. Most posts are free and public, but only paid members can comment. What determines whether it's free or paid is when I publish. Monday through Friday, free and public. Saturday and Sunday, for paid members. That's it. Membership info here.
Hmm, I'm not sure I follow. Now I figure Beck regards this somewhat more ominously than I, but that goes more to practicalities than principles, and it's only because I choose to deal with thieves to get along, whereas he does not to every extent he can avoid it.
We're all falling past windows, but I can see how some are passing through lower floors than I by virtue of their chosen values and they're already seeing the ground rush more profoundly than I.
As to civil war I mostly agree. Could happen, I suppose, but more likely it's like I said here the other day:
"Actually, what seems the most likely of all is neither. I think people are finding cradle-to-grave government to their liking. More and more every day. Ron Paul proposed the smallest Cannibal Pot ever in modern politics, and it has gone over like a lead blimp. Freedom lovers are simply just going to have to buy their freedom. I don't think it will ever change."
C'mon, Rich – Beck is spinning fantasies. Hillary isn't offering anything that the electorate doesn't want in principle, so where's the civil war going to come from?
This country will last through a Hillary Clinton presidency or two, more or less. Sure: we'll have less freedom at the end of those eight years than we do now, but that's true for any President. Hillary brings nothing special to the table.
Elevated concern at this point seems a tad over-dramatic:
"no-treason.com/archives/2005/05/12/reaction-to-the-national-id/#comment-8180>It’s like you’ve been pushed out the window and you just fell past the 40th floor and you shout: “OH MY GOD, THE 39TH FLOOR!!!”
Well, the 39th floor was probably coming. And so are the other 38."
