Richard Nikoley

I started writing Free The Animal in late 2003 as just a little thing to try. 20 years later, turns out I've written over 5,000 posts. I blog what I wish...from diet, health, lifestyle...to philosophy, politics, social antagonism, adventure travel, expat living, location and time independent—while you sleep— income by geoarbitrage, and food pics. I intended to travel the world "homeless," but the Covidiocy Panicdemic squashed that. I became an American expat living in Thailand. I celebrate the audacity and hubris to live by your own exclusive authority and take your own chances. ... I leave the toilet seat up. Read More

For a good laugh, I suggest taking a look at this video, where one Dr. Delgado “brings science to the masses” by showing how one can “become diabetic” in 6 hours:

    I posted about this here:

    http://healthcorrelator.blogspot.com/2010/08/how-to-become-diabetic-in-6-hours.html

And Tom did a longer post here:

Richard, I suspect that on a less pleasant day this would elicit a post with some bombs from you!

Hmmm. I don’t know how alcohol fits into the Big Picture. You see stuff like this, for example:

Oh, Mango, that’s nothing. Check this one out:

At any rate, it’s all just for a giggle.

“You know which one you want to be.”
I would like to be the guy on the left, minus the testicle chin.

    Whatever happens to Niamh blogpost?

    • Richard Nikoley on September 8, 2010 at 10:41

I took it down, which I’ll explain in a separate post, later.

      • Daniel on September 8, 2010 at 11:15

        Richard,

Just in case you weren’t aware- the “Niamh” post is still very much intact on facebook.

Keep doing what you do brotha!

      • Richard Nikoley on September 8, 2010 at 11:21

Thanks Daniel. Hadn’t see the negative comments over there. But anyway I removed the post.

    Gotcha. Good luck with moving!

I love that Dr. Ornish recommends “nonfat dairy and egg whites in their natural forms”. You know, because dairy is naturally nonfat, and Nature would not be so cruel as to include – gasp! – cholesterol-rich yolks in its eggs.

Of course, there is no shortage of people who claim to have unlocked the fountain of youth with a low-fat plant-based diet, but until I see one of these people squat bodyweight x2, I will continue to be dismissive.

    • Richard Nikoley on September 8, 2010 at 12:09

That x2 BW on the squat is going to be tough for me. That’d be about 340-350. I can definitely see that coming in deads within a couple of months (I’m at 295 x 8 right now). I was at 215 x 6 on squats but I and my trainer were increasingly unhappy with my form, so I dropped back to about 145 x 8 and have been adding 10# per week, now back up to 175 x 8 but with better form and a deeper squat. Not quite ATG, but definitely in the hole, below parallel.
