Something for Nothing

Waiting for the winds of change
To sweep the clouds away
Waiting for the rainbow’s end
To cast its gold your way
Countless ways
You pass the days

Waiting for someone to call
And turn your world around
Looking for an answer to
The question you have found
Looking for
An open door

You don’t get something for nothing
You don’t get freedom for free
You won’t get wise
With the sleep still in your eyes
No matter what your dreams might be

What you own is your own kingdom
What you do is your own glory
What you love is your own power
What you live is your own story
In your head is the answer
Let it guide you along
Let your heart be the anchor
And the beat of your own song

… and your chicks for free

mmm, that would follow “MONEY for nothing…”

A good song in it’s own right, but in a different class than this Rush tune.

      …only on MTV.

You can’t have something for nothing, but every separate line here has something for someone.
Thank you, for the slide-show itself!

Hmm, I don’t know Nigel, the dystopic 2112, let alone Ayn Rand’s Anthem inspiration, just ain’t mellow, so no amount of carbs could have brought this on :-)

Love this classic Rush song from 2112, one of their best albums ever! Great slideshow too. Your site is quickly becoming one of my favorites :)

I could never stand the lead singers voice – just hideous.

    • Richard Nikoley on April 3, 2012 at 09:42

I thnk you’re in the minority amongst classic rock fans, mark, but that’s OK, so long as everyone understands that it’s possibly you, not them.

The lead singer is Geddy Lee, by the way.

Great – I didn’t want to know his name either – thanks.. Sounds like a weasel in heat LOL
