Something came up and I find need of attempting a meaningful post on the latest incident of someone going postal in a school. Yes, there’s a connection to the gut biome, which is why I’m taking it on.
In the meantime, here’s some stuff about what I’m up to.
~ The “system” explained, in brief.
After weeks without having to use the generator, I have to for a few hours after 2-3 days of overcast. Gravity feed water explained, too.
~ Hunter the beagle hound chases deer for exercise.
Such a great dog. Had no idea how cool they are. He chases coyotes away almost every day. My three rat terriers give backup barking.
~ Never discount the importance of dog treats, ever.
Just don’t do it.
~ Tarantulas are out & about.
Very docile and thankfully, the dogs take a sniff, leave ’em alone.
Scout is the cutey cutestest!
Huge size difference between rat terriors and the hound. But Hunter is not a beagle because beagles are not that big.
“But Hunter is not a beagle because beagles are not that big”
Don’t know. There are rat terriers tree times these kids’ size. In Zac, of the neighbor’s three dobermans, one was normal size (Mindy), another medium (Emily), and the “baby” a monstrous 130 pounds (Tiffany).
Turns out he had been selectively breeding for some years to produce massive dobermans. I think he knows it was stupid (she has mechanical issues), so I never told him how fucking stupid it was.
I was just thinking how wonderful it is for the dogs to have ‘free range’ lives. And how the incidents of dog bites have increased dramatically in this city since leash laws have been enforced….dogs need to run. It’s sort of the same thing with the young males who shoot up schools and colleges. These are not ‘free range’ humans. Just being alive in nature would go a long way to not only being mentally healthier but their gut bugs would be getting regular infusions of soil based micro-organisms.
Thanks for the update Richard. I’m loving my new country life here. Still on grid for power, 45,000 liters of rainwater collected in tanks, septic tank system, walk the dog up and down the hills on my place at dawn & dusk every single day. He nailed a hare the other day. Most of the remains we left for the harrier hawks and they swooped in and cleaned it up. The dog did bring the head back to his kennel for a sneaky snack, but that’s our secret – don’t tell my wife :)
I should email you some pics of the countryside…
