Vaccinate or Mask: Is It OK To Lie In Your Own Defense?
A few days ago, May 13, the CDC declared that masks are no longer needed in most circumstances, indoors or out, provided you have been vaccinated. Predictably, this caused a lot of hand wringing because it essentially throws the door open to shedding this Dumbo MaskDemic.
The reason is quite simple. People will realize they can lie about it and once they figure that out, there’s not one in a thousand who won’t lie their asses off about it. Good for them.
The “authorities” know this.
I read this to great amusement this morning:
CDC’s New Guidelines Causing Confusion for Businesses
You might’ve heard: On Thursday, the CDC announced that fully vaccinated people don’t need to wear masks in most indoor and outdoor settings. While many celebrated a full-faced summer, businesses struggled to make sense of an assignment they were handed with few instructions.
Large retailers including Target, Starbucks, Macy’s, and Hope Depot haven’t yet changed their in-store mask requirements. But other companies have.
—> Yesterday, Walmart said that fully vaccinated customers and employees won’t need to wear masks unless required to by local laws.
—> Disney relaxed outdoor mask requirements at Disney World starting today.
—> Trader Joe’s said fully vaccinated customers won’t be required to wear a mask.
But the “mask police” assignment just got tougher
People will still have to wear masks to patronize businesses that require them, shifting more responsibility onto workers who’ve spent more than a year on the mask beat. The United Food and Commercial Workers Union wasn’t happy about the CDC’s summer plans, saying they conflict with local guidelines and force frontline employees to be the bad guys.
Big picture: Ultimately, state and local governments will have to decide whether to keep or throw out mask mandates. As of Friday morning, 10 states had adjusted their mask guidelines following the CDC’s announcement.
—> After Nevada updated its coronavirus precautions Thursday night, two big Vegas casino operators, Wynn and Las Vegas Sands, said vaccinated guests don’t have to wear masks.
Looking ahead…the CDC said masks are still advised on planes, but it will be looking at updating those guidelines along with those for daycares, summer camps, and schools.

Let’s have a few laughs at the confusion that arises out of being complete idiots all along.
“Large retailers including Target, Starbucks, Macy’s, and Hope Depot haven’t yet changed their in-store mask requirements. But other companies have.”
Translation: you’re going to lose business to companies who don’t require masks and you know it. I hope that in some measure, it’s a permanent change for many of your customers of where they spend their money.
“The United Food and Commercial Workers Union wasn’t happy about the CDC’s summer plans, saying they conflict with local guidelines and force frontline employees to be the bad guys.”
Frontline employees ought to have been, ought to now, and ought to be explicitly treated like the bad guys going forward. Go where they leave you alone and simply do their damn jobs.
I have no tolerance for the just-doing-my-job types. Berate them mercilessly. Make them feel stupid. Make them lose sleep.
“Ultimately, state and local governments will have to decide whether to keep or throw out mask mandates. As of Friday morning, 10 states had adjusted their mask guidelines following the CDC’s announcement.”
Translation: Lead Balloon getting heavier by the day as more and more states are either not requiring proof of vaccination or have explicitly outlawed asking for proof.
Even the White House is backtracking from all the passive-aggressive bluster.
White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki says that the Biden administration is not planning on imposing a vaccine mandate and will not keep track of those who have been vaccinated, but that it will allow business, colleges and universities to demand proof of vaccination.
Translation: We couldn’t do fuck-all even if we wanted, so we’ll just pretend we could, but by our Grace, shall not.
Business can ask for whatever the fuck they want and generally, can set any conditions that are lawful as a condition for your business. And except for things that are exclusive anyway—like $100K per year tuition or whatever the ripoff is—wearing a mask or getting a vaxx is the least of the levels of outrage, for those with half a brain.
But for regular, run of the mill businesses, we’ll just see how CONCERNED ABOUT COVID!!! they are once the data is clear that they are losing customers to the competition who have no requirements.
But what about the moral ramifications of lying?
First, please don’t conflate or confuse the legal with the moral. Thousands of essays have been written on this but basically, while they can complement each-other, e.g., laws against murder, kidnap, rape, robbery, fraud and the like reflect the moral consensus. But sometimes they’re in conflict. Many people believe that various measures of taxation and regulation are forms of theft and coercion and are thus, immoral.
Put simply, laws are there to be enforced. You are dealing with the State as an agent of force and coercion. Morality is a choice between two or more alternative courses of action and the test in play is which course you choose, being free to act. And whether there is a legal penalty or not, you still might pay a price; and, you might be perfectly willing to accept the risk and take your chances.
Would you lie to thief or bully or rapist or any number of other nefarious sorts who would use force or coercion to do you harm, or what you reasonably perceive as harm, or that which goes against your own will?
Not only would you lie, but you would be proud of having done so. You might say something like, “lying and deceiving saved my life!” And you would be right. Others would commend your virtue.
What do you think is the difference or distinction in this case, if any? Does anyone have reasonable standing to compel you to wear a mask—compromising your respiratory health and causing great discomfort—unless you release your private medical information to them?
As much as I dislike Trevor Noah, he’s dead spot-on in this clip, and when you have SJ wankers like him saying “HUH!!!???” then you have a problem.
Alright, that’s about all, folks.
…OH, wait. One more thing. If lying or deception doesn’t work, you can always try their own ruse.
