The Con Game of “Saving X”
— Lives, Environment, Children, The Planet, and Bla Bla Bla

This article delves into the manipulation tactic of the “Saving X” narrative, used throughout history to justify atrocities and control the masses. It’s also an in-action example of articles to be published over the course of The 114 No-Pill Advantages series. … The author argues that this narrative is not driven by a genuine motivation or desire to help others, but something far different and undetected by everyone. It further explores the illusion of goodwill and how people are exploited for the benefit of elite power. It primarily uses the recent Covid lockdowns and forced vaccinations as the backdrop, but is widely applicable in all situations.
Reading this article will provide you with a new perspective on how power and control are often masked by touting altruistic intentions. It will help you understand the underlying motivations behind major societal changes and how to critically evaluate the narratives presented to you.
The No-Pill Advantages give you the power and critical insight to detect the undetectable, so that you know what’s going on at all times. You will outmaneuver and outcompete all the bullshit lies passed off as justifications and arguments—doesn’t matter how many PhDs or titles after their names—and gain advantages over everyone else in whatever you choose…whether it be to just relax in the knowing, or put it to use in improved relationships, both personal and business.
The Great Deception
The first thing that needs to be understood is that the “Saving X” narrative is not a new phenomenon. It’s a tried and true method of manipulating the masses, and it’s been used throughout history to justify all manner of atrocities. The Nazis used it to justify the Holocaust, the Communists used it to justify the Gulags; and more recently, governments, non-governmental organizations, and corporations used it to justify the Covid lockdowns and forced vaccinations. Saving the planet is a continuing theme, and “it’s for [saving] the children” can never go wrong.
The common thread in all these instances is the promise of a better future, a utopia that can only be achieved if we are willing to make sacrifices in the present (rewards to be handed out after you’re dead…or, they’re for your grandchildren). The problem, of course, is that this utopia never comes. Instead, we are left with the wreckage of our society and the highway robbery of natural freedom.
Despite the clear evidence of the failure of these utopian visions, people continue to fall for them. Why? Because they’re seductive. They promise us a world free of suffering and hardship, a world where we can live in peace and harmony with our fellow man. But this is a lie. It’s a con game designed to keep us compliant and obedient.
… I was alerted to a rather tongue-in-cheek Twitter (or is it X, now?) thread.
It needs to be understood that the true motivation of the lockdown / forced vaccination Covid response really 𝑤𝑎𝑠 Saving Lives.
Saving Lives wasn’t a smokescreen for some other hidden plan.
Of course, there was opportunism: there were those who used the state of emergency to claw power, money, fame to themselves. There were both supporters and opponents of the Covid measures who did that.
Where [there] is opportunity, there will be opportunists.
But mere opportunism is not enough to drive forward the leaders and followers in a revolution on the scale of the Covid response.
That requires faith, and the faith that drove this revolution was the faith in Saving Lives.
To deny the authenticity of the project to Save Lives is to remain perilously ready to sign up to all current and future projects to remake society and morality in the name of Life-Saving.
And it is to remain blind to the fact that Saving Lives has come to mean hacking away at the limits of what can be done to men, women and children in the name of saving their lives and those of others.
Let’s draw distinctions. The primary one is that the author is asserting that the true motivation in people is a genuine, goodwill desire to help others (save lives), but that because this wonderful and virtuous trait is so profound, people fall prey to those who would exploit that commitment by everyone to “peace & goodwill towards men.”
I call bullshit.
Another distinction—a better one—is that the problem with motivations such as these—generally: do this short-term “small bad” for the long-term “greater good”—is that they often turn into long-term murderously bad and evil, in exchange for some hard-to-quantify short-term benefits that fit into newsreel sound bites.
The Illusion of Goodwill
The second point that needs to be understood is that the people pushing these narratives are not driven by a genuine desire to help others. They may claim to be, but their actions tell a different story. They are driven by something else entirely and far more fundamental.
This is not to say that there aren’t people who genuinely believe in the “Saving X” narrative. There are. But these people are not the ones in power. They are the pawns in the game, the useful idiots who are manipulated into supporting the agenda of the power-hungry, control-freak, condescending elites.
… And as we’ll see, it’s more accurate to assume that even in the ranks of the common man, few, if any, are truly acting from pure, lily-white motivations, as they attest.
One of my favorite Substackers, Eugyppius—a German academic with a better command of English than 99% of the English—ads nuance to the thing.
That said, I find the thesis less than complete. The public health establishment and their media collaborators carefully manufactured public support for their response by sowing far and wide the belief that it was necessary to Save Lives. Had we acted otherwise – say, by staying open and not doing very much – this, too, would’ve been marketed as the Best Way to Save Lives, and many millions would’ve believed it just as sincerely as they believed in lockdowns. To this comes the fact that Life-Saving in one form or another is profered as justification for a wide range of modern political pathologies, from mass migration schemes to climate change. Especially in ageing European countries like Germany, where an ever-growing number of pensioners and their health anxiety dominate national discourse, there are few better ways to sell noxious political programmes to the masses. Without our naive Life-Saving ethos, it’s not clear to me we wouldn’t have had lockdowns, though they would’ve required a much different kind of argument.
This is true, but I still call bullshit on these things coming from anything anywhere close to “hearts in the right place.”
… But because everyone eventually dies of something, at some time, “saving lives” is an existential bug in our code, to the extent it can so easily be manipulated with fear—that you or a loved one face immediate peril, cutting further short your already short existence.
So people fall for a sort of Pascal’s Wager on that basis all the time, and almost anything at all can fall under that spell of life-saving.
The True Motivation
So what is the true motivation behind the “Saving X” narrative? From the standpoint of the state, NGOs, big corp, it’s simple: control. Control over our lives, our freedoms, our resources, and our future…control over everything…for influence, power, profits, and wealth (the secular version of eternal life in Heaven). The promise of a better world is just a smokescreen, a way to keep us distracted while natural rights and liberties fail, as any sorts of principled imperatives.
The Covid lockdowns and forced vaccinations are an example of this. They were sold as necessary measures to save lives, but in reality, they were about control. They were about conditioning the sheeple to accept additional losses to natural freedoms in the name of safety and security (to save lives).
Most people fell for it. Globally. They saw it on their “smart” phone screen. Had to be true. Why they really fell for it (it was not to save any life whatsoever) is the theme of this article, and is what sets those who understand what I’m putting forth, way ahead of everyone else.
… Eugippius also alludes to what has been described as “The Banality of Evil,” which is to say, “government work.” That is, the propensity to ascribe nefarious [conspiratorial] motivations when really, it’s just a bunch of people going to work every day and doing something (in order to feel and be seen as important…and there’s your clue as to what I’ll be getting at).
The problem with ”JUST DO SOMETHING!!!” at the level of Leviathan state and bureaucratic meat-grinding machinery is that it can result in grave and long-lasting repercussions that save absolutely fuck all, while destroying a fuck of a lot.
The extent to which states can be said to act upon clear motives at all is a further problem. A longstanding plague chronicle argument, is that modern managerial government doesn’t have goals, motivations or purposes in any human sense. Our countries every day do all kinds of truly insane things behind paper-thin justifications that bear no scrutiny. A lot of what is maligned as “conspiratorial” discourse, on both the left and the right, represents an effort to reimpose logic on state actions, generally by positing that the stated goals are a pretence for some deeper, hidden purpose. Most of the time, these analyses just aren’t convincing, and they function to obscure the blunt reality that we find ourselves beset by an incomprehensible post-liberal political order, in which state actions have been farmed out to a vastly complex network of stakeholders, NGOs, academics, bureaucrats and special advisory committees. For every area of policy the constellation of forces will be different, and nobody has any clear understanding of how the system works – not even the most powerful individuals in the midst of it all. Everything the state does is the sum of these thousands of different forces. What complicates this picture even further, is the fact that those responsible for policy formulation don’t act directly to shape outcomes in the outside world. Their motivations are almost always institutionally mediated, and for this reason much more confined and limited in perspective. They want to secure promotion and grant funding, they want to be thought well of by their peers, they want to satisfy their superiors, and many other petty careerist personal things of this nature.
Eugyppius gets really close to the underlying issue here—the real motivation—but doesn’t quite get there.
He’s not questioning the very essential and base premise, that people are truly motivated by goodwill to others in society—in as vast of a scale as it can become; which, now, is global.
… And when it’s found, that calls to sacrifice now ”FOR THE PLANET!!!” fall increasingly on deaf ears, who will we have to save next?
The Martians?
The Neil Fergusons, Tomas Pueyos and Christian Drostens who sold lockdowns to their countries and the world surely did so for specific, personal reasons. The problem is that these reasons are very elusive. In fact, the more I read their early statements and their leaked correspondence, the more elusive they seem to me. Their words and actions, however, have a very clear and persistent sinister undertone, which is not a mere artefact of retrospect. Their mysterious coordination with each other, their willingness to engage in highly manipulative messaging and risk magnification, their reliance on foreign agents to launder research and strategies from China, and their constant efforts to justify with pseudoscientific findings apparently preconceived conclusions, are all very unsettling. The ambient Life-Saving ethos of modern society surely helped them win the argument in the moment and get away with it in the longer term, but whatever they thought they were up to, was something much different.
Once you understand what the true and underlying motivations really are, everything will lock right into place and become clear to you.
… I mean, I get the tongue-in-cheek nature of the thesis. I suppose I should say that I find it wrong; i.e., the whole thing was a sham, and most knew it soon enough.
It wasn’t about saving lives…and I’d bet that in hearts, few really believed it. It’s kinda like people who claim they believe they are absolutely certain to go to an eternally blissful heaven when they die.
No they don’t. Nobody who isn’t committing suicide really believes that.
People will say literally any fucking thing. Most people are just automatically lying all of the time. Sometimes it’s to give themselves comfort in the face of harsh realities; and sometimes, it’s to get, have, or keep some edge over others and circumstances.
First of all, belief exists on a spectrum. It’s never that you believe something absolutely, or you don’t believe it, at all.

“People will believe anything,” means, just make it fuzzy and palatable enough. They’ll swallow it hook, line, and sinker. Make it nebulous enough, like “SAVE THE PLANET!!!” where can they sign?
Tell them it’s absolutely, 100% true what they believe…that through the grace of God and His Son, Jesus Christ—who lived a perfect, sinless life, an innocent lamb of God—who suffered and died for them, their sins have been paid for, and if they accept that gift, all is forgiven, and they shall immediately cross the gates of Heaven for all eternity when they die…so it makes perfect logical sense to commit suicide right now.
Takers? Anyone?
What happened to that fervency of belief? Get a bit too literal for ya?
… Okay, you want to know the real deal?
The premise is all wrong. Nobody supported lockdowns, vaccine, etc. with a fervent belief that it would literally save a bunch of lives that would otherwise be lost.
That’s just what people say, because people will say anything when…
The real motivation is to win, at any cost. On personal levels.
… And in the instance of covid, they almost did win, and at civilization-crushing cost, and those costs are still upon global society, and they will persist for a long time to come, some not yet even fully manifest.
Some places might not fully recover for decades.
The rest of us got a sobering and true exposé of the deep and core “Original Sin” of humanity on planet Earth.
In that light, couching this as really just unbridled human benevolence gone wrong would be like commentators at the end of WWII:
“It needs to be understood that the true motivation for German soldiers loading folks up into boxcars, knowing full well their fates yet deaf to the voice of their own conscience, really was Saving Germany.”
Nope, it was to win, and people believed, for whatever host of propagandistic reasons, that a certain sector of the population was the reason they weren’t winning personally…so look the other way and eliminate the problem, everyone will be winning again.
Everyone had their own personal angle on Covid, some warped sense of confidence and hope that they would somehow be better off because of everything lockdown and vax…in precisely the same way that so many Germans back then looked the other way, went along, or actively participated. It’s for Germany (or saving lives, or for the children, or for the environment…always some higher cause) to mask the root motivation on personal levels: to win, to benefit, to somehow prosper, to be better off.
It was the same with communism, and a particularly stark example was the Cultural Revolution in China that had young nitwits clamoring and trampling to get recognition and status by “outing” their fellow-man “sinners” in some public way.
And when those stakes are on the line, very few individuals have the core principles it takes to say no…those of us who did and do are probably, percentage wise, on par with resistance to communism—where no amount of murders was too great a cost for the personal paradise that’s gonna come along, any minute now.
Recognize a fact: most people have gone right along with mass-murder in many different countries and cultures, and they all did so because they thought they would be better off.
Spare me the lying platitudes. The first step is confronting reality in a fully integrated, honest manner. When you can stomach what you find and acknowledge it, you can then remake your psyche in a way where you can prosper and achieve happiness anyway.
IF all the shit we’ve seen—Covid and everything else—was truly just a well-meaning, grave error, then you would have people falling all over themselves in society with sorry sorry sorry, and you have scant few of those. You never see it.
What you have is deafening silence on the matter, and others, because they know what was in their own hearts, and Saving X wasn’t it.
What was, was to gain some winning edge or advantage through this or that, and it didn’t pan out.
So, basically, people are generally just shit. And the bigger problem is there is so much institution and industry geared toward exploiting that fact.
… But wait.
You’ll see, throughout the 114, a far wider perspective than this. In fact, you’ll be treated to what is the true, fully-integrated value and wonder of consciousness and humanity…one that has nothing to do with feelings, slogans, bromides, narratives, parables, or allegories.
All of those things have been necessary throughout civilization because “Original Sin” (as described, above) had to be reconciled with what’s supposedly a creature “made in the image of God.”
But you don’t need any of it to show how in spite of it all…in spite of that motivation to win…and not caring much about who gets trampled in the process…man is basically good.
When you learn how and why, it will be clear, and you’ll think, “wow, I don’t need all of this other bullshit.” Then you come to realize that all the other bullshit persists because it’s very lucrative for those who know how to manipulate it.
And you’re one step closer to always knowing exactly what’s going on at all times.
