The American Right’s Russian Romance
A Middle Finger to the Globalist Swamp

The New York Times Magazine, in a moment of lucidity (though still dripping with leftist drivel), dropped a piece titled, “How the G.O.P. Fell in Love With Putin’s Russia.” Let’s unpack this geopolitical clusterfuck.
Kiev is a cesspool of evil where political corruption, globalist schemes, and Deep State machinations have fused into a covert war—a scam from the Swamp to the one nation it hates most: Russia. The Times piece marks the first time corporate media has even pretended to grapple with the pathetic collapse of its post-Cold War Russia narrative. This ain’t just about Ukraine’s invasion. It’s bigger. The Times admits, almost begrudgingly, that this is “the improbable triumph of a set of ideas—political and cultural—that have been simmering on the American right for years.” No shit.
Rewind to the late ‘80s. The Soviet Union implodes. Our Cold Warriors, bless their paranoid hearts, refuse to stand down. The old world order was built on smashing communism, embodied by the USSR. Ditching that fight meant crafting a new global paradigm, and they weren’t having it. Worse, Democrats and Republican neocons crowed over the Soviet collapse as a win for American Liberal Democracy™. Meanwhile, Russia—freshly unshackled from authoritarian communism—was a rudderless mess. Crime, inflation, malaise. A string of useless presidents. No identity. They reached for the West, begging for a lifeline, even sniffing around NATO—the very alliance hell-bent on their annihilation. The West’s response? A cold, paranoid fuck off.
Irony doesn’t get sweeter than this. From the ashes of the Soviet empire rises the one nation to stand as the last bastion against the globalists’ communo-fascist Great Reset. History, you sly bastard.
Enter Vladimir Putin in 2000—a lawyer, a historian, stepping into a post-Soviet wasteland. His mission? Rebuild Russian identity from scratch. Neocons screech about his “nationalism,” but what he did was resurrect a pre-Soviet Russian soul, modernized for the 21st century. Crime dropped. Inflation steadied. Russia went from global laughingstock to serious player. By 2012, Putin doubled down, championing traditional values against “Western decadence.” He banned LGBTQ butt-fuck propaganda—a move the Times pussily calls “a new direction.” Russians, burned by the West’s rejection, ate it up. And guess what? A tiny cadre of American conservatives, sick of modern leftist rot, started nodding along. The Times, in a rare moment of clarity, admits this morphed into a “genuine alliance.” Imagine that.
Russia’s system ain’t ours. Critics bitch about rights gaps. Fine. But Putin’s vision—rooted in Judeo-Christian and conservative values—caught the eye of American traditionalists.
Enter Patrick J. Buchanan, the grizzled paleocon warrior from the Nixon and Reagan eras. While neocons swapped out communist Russia for constitutional Russia as their boogeyman, Buchanan saw the real fight: a cultural war between traditionalists and the secular, multicultural, global elite. In 2013, he dared ask, “Is Vladimir Putin a paleoconservative?” Then, bolder: “In the culture war for mankind’s future, is Putin one of us?” Liberals clutched their pearls. Neocons seethed. By 2014, Buchanan dubbed Moscow the “command post of the counter-reformation against the new paganism.” Shots fired.
That same year, Obama’s crew kicked off their Ukraine meddling in earnest. But the ground was shifting. Slowly, inexorably, Buchanan’s once-fringe ideas gained traction. Conservatives—and even some old-school liberals—woke up to the horrors of globalism, open borders, and woke insanity. Anne Coulter, never one for subtlety, sneered in 2017: “In 20 years, Russia will be the only country that is recognizably European.” Burn.
Fast forward. Buchanan’s spirit no longer haunts the political wilderness; it’s taken up residence in the goddamn White House. The Times, sulking, notes his “fans” have moved from conservative media’s fringes to the heart of Trump’s decision-making. They offer two reasons for this seismic shift. One: geopolitical realpolitik. Trump might be playing 4D chess, cozying up to Russia to box in China. The Times skims past that sanity like it’s radioactive. Instead, they obsess over reason two: Trump’s grudge against the Democrats’ RussiaGate hoax. They cite Trump growling during a tense Zelensky meeting, “Let me tell you, Putin went through a hell of a lot with me.” With. Fucking. Me. The implication? Trump sees Putin as a fellow trench-fighter against the Deep State.
Trump’s flipped the liberal world order on its head. Neocons and globalists now stand at the edge of irrelevance, staring down the path Buchanan’s troops just marched out of. I’ll reluctantly tip my hat to the Times piece—despite its anti-Russian slant and endless hand-wringing. For once, corporate media didn’t completely butcher this geopolitical earthquake. They even framed Trump’s worldview as a slow-brewing rebellion, not some half-baked tweetstorm cooked up between sparring with CNN clowns.
Read it. But think for yourself. The Swamp’s narrative is crumbling. Russia, of all places, might just be the last stand against globalist tyranny. And if that ain’t the wildest twist in modern history, I don’t know what is.

Great analysis. I hope the new trend continues. Though I have a fear that the globalist wokesters may bounce back and become even worse than they have been the last 10 years. They have academia and large swathes of the media onside. Here in Australia the Trump effect seems to be drawing voters away from the conservative side of politics with an election just weeks away. I hope we don’t end up like Britain. Our left leaders seem to have the same penchant for cracking down on free speech that their English cousins do.
All empires come to an end. The Soviet Union came to an end. We are witnessing the end of the American empire. For the first time in Australia people are talking about why we have America as our main defence alliance, ending AUKUS and reconsidering bases here. For the first time people are saying our biggest trading partner is China so why would our defence alliance be with the USA when they don’t treat us as a friend. The conservatives in Australia would have won the election but the chaos in the USA has people turning against them. Canada and Canadians now hate America with a 32% drop in Canadians visiting the USA by car and all American products facing a widespread boycott. America use to have friends around the world and was able to call on those friends. It now has few. Jinping and Putin are playing Trump perfectly. the idea that America advances by getting Americans working again in sweat shop production lines making the stuff China, Vietnam, India etc make is utterly ludicrous. It’s such a shame and there were many good and worthwhile Trump policies but it is all a chaotic mess which is wrecking American power in the world. Sad to see America end this way.
That’s the dumbest fucking comment I’ve had here in many years.
Well that’s a mighty achievement given the quality of some comments :-) I’ll take it as a badge of honour.
Seeing you enjoyed it so much I’ll add some more. I forgot to mention that Canada played Trump like a fool forcing him to back down on the crazy tariff madness by quietly buying US bonds and then systematically selling them down to the point that Trump couldn’t ignore it and had to drop most of his whole massive Liberation Day announcements.
He is desperate to appear like a strong man so cosies up to Putin, who keeps so easily playing him into his hand. Jinping is loving it travelling around Asia forging close relationships with countries whose relationship with America that have been destroyed by Trump. Everyone is looking to trade anywhere but with the USA.
As I said here in Australia it is now pretty clear that Trump will cost the conservatives the election that they were sure to win.
But seriously Richard what does he think he is doing with the tariffs? Does he really want Americans working in sweat shop productions lines that are currently done by people in third world countries getting paid a couple of dollars an hour if that?
Again I’m not anti-Trump but Jesus he is fucking it up badly. People were frightened of him but now I think they are just frightened he may well cause a massive global economic collapse.
And how weak and pathetic that he is not man enough to fix his fuck up by obeying he court order and bringing innocent people departed back home like Kilmar Garcia. We all make mistakes but the statue and power of a man can be judged by how he acts when he fucks up. Trump is proving to just be weak and pathetic.
Anyhow I’m sure you will think this is dumber than the last comment lol but I will be proven right and you will be proven wrong. Well I already am. Again it is a shame as he could have been a great leader rather than a little boy.
I think my favourite in this whole mess was when the White House spokesperson chick said France would be speaking German if it wasn’t for America and they should be grateful and cap in hand to America. Fucking hilarious that she and Trump had no idea of American history that America would still be under English rule with an English monarch if it wasn’t for France in the American War of Independence lol. Pathetic.
Let me make it clear.
You’re too stupid for me. So I skim your comment, waste zero time. You’re just an idiot. Ok.
On tariffs, I wrote about that already.

Richard, I second that!
