Live With WordPress, Now. Bye Bye, TypePad

Well, there will be some odds & ends to fix and adjust, but it looks like everything went off without a hitch. I have wanted to do this for a long time, but the task would have been daunting with all the images to handle, links, and so on. But Alec and Martin at foliovision made it completely painless.

For the many of you who asked, there is now an all comment RSS feed. Now that I’m on a platform that gives me the utmost in flexibility and freedom, your suggestions are very welcome.

Just drop ’em in comments if you have any.

I started writing Free The Animal in late 2003 as just a little thing to try. 20 years later, turns out I've written over 5,000 posts. I blog what I wish...from diet, health, lifestyle...to philosophy, politics, social antagonism, adventure travel, expat living, location and time independent—while you sleep— income by geoarbitrage, and food pics. I intended to travel the world "homeless," but the Covidiocy Panicdemic squashed that. I became an American expat living in Thailand. I celebrate the audacity and hubris to live by your own exclusive authority and take your own chances. ... I leave the toilet seat up. Read More

I like the wider column, also the drop down menus on the right. It looks great. Dad

Nicely done. Except it wouldn’t let me just say those two words, it wanted a longer comment. So here you go. 😉

Good deal! Never used TypePad, but it’s pretty hard to beat WP.

The new version of the RSS feed no longer contains the entire post… only the first paragraph or so. It requires that you head to the website to read the whole thing…

Could you get the RSS feed fixed up to include whole posts again? I and some of my family/friends have been following you for some time, but we tend to use RSS news readers to pull all our blogs to one convenient place.

Ah– looks like the old RSS feed URL is returning shortened summary posts… but the new URL is working fine. I’ll just switch my news subscription over. Took me a bit to find the right link (the feedburner link is handy, but the actual RSS/Atom link is better): https://freetheanimal.com/feed

      Lowell:

I believe I fixed the feedburner issue. Let me know if you’re still not getting full entries.

    Lowell:

Hadn’t noticed that full-entry issue with feedburner, but will get it fixed.

    Thanks.

Richard, congrats on the migration. I like the simplicity of your theme. So much so, that I feel like changing mine:)

If you have a question, drop me a line.

I like the font its easy to read, I still am not quite used to your photo and links being on the right hand side, just habit I suppose. But like the spacing and layout so far.

Site looks great! I also like the simple design and white space. For a site as big as yours, switching over must have been an arduous task to say the least. Lucky for me, my husband is a wordpress designer.
