A Million More Morons
Please excuse my absence for a while while I think a little bit more. Paying members don’t pay me to just regurgitate the same rotting piles of shit they get almost everywhere else.
There is a lot going on, and there’s a lot of activity. Both on general politics and general diet/health.
Always keep in mind Nikoley’s Law.
- When everyone is saying the same thing, everyone is wrong.
- When half of everyone is saying one thing and the other half, the opposite thing, everyone is wrong.
99% of people never have original thoughts. They just do polling. Why do you think polling is such a great business and companies pay 10s and 100s of millions to polling companies?
It’s not a stupid business move, either side, because all the people being polled are stupid. It’s an enormous circle jerk.
We live in a society where everything is depraved. Everywhere you look, it’s people trying to live at the expense of everyone else (reap the profits, pass off the losses) and at the same time, trying to get on the right side of “this is what everyone thinks.”
I’ve never operated like that.
Right now, I’m trying to glean what’s going on in the diet sphere because if I distill down the outlash and hand-waving of GLP-1 agonists (Ozempic, Wegovy), it comes down to one thing:
It doesn’t matter what you eat, it still works wonders.
Well let me tell you, more is coming. Retatrutide. Next generation. I’ll be checking it out persoanlly soon, where I never had the slightest interest in the others.
What’s really happening is that these peptides—which you still have to be clever in getting, and you have to learn a few things like reconstituting a powder and self-injecting—are revolutionary because it does not fucking matter what you like to eat. SURE and fucking 1 millions times sure, I’m going to tell you that you got here by being a fucktard, thank your lucky stars you’re back, and don’t fuck it up again. Eat mostly whole food you cook at home and don’t cook everything in fucking fat and stop fucktardedly adding fat to everything, you miserable moron.
Do you understand why everybody with a business that relies on telling you what you should eat is scared shitless? It makes them irrelevant and worthless: even Gary Taubes, who just got a $700,000 advance to write yet another masterpiece about insulin, a basic human hormone. I’m sure everyone will be convinced next time. (It’s not about convincing anyone, don’t you know?).
… I quipped to Bill Lagakos today on X:
“People have shit to sell is the root cause of obesity theories.”
Back in the Paleo Daze, I sincerely had a hope and trust that people were really trying to figure shit out and make it easy and simple for folks to get a life back on track, to whatever degree was enough for them. I wanted folks to feel that control is in their grasp and it’s not so hard. Obsessing about diet (and now “LONGEVITY” and “SUPPLEMENTS”) is just plain off the rails, they’re all advertising, and you get nothing but that shit in your feeds.
No nice vacation for you. You’ll need two extra suitcases and extra baggage charges to take along all the stupid shit you bought.
Do you think that all these charlatans with their wide-eyed promotional videos do that? No, they take ONE along and do another promo video from some Greek island, implying that’s what got them there.
Selling the dream.
… Here’s the chief antagonism, boiled down. It has long been the case but it’s different, now.
- How much you eat, vs
- What you eat
Classic dieting was always about how much you eat (and I add: how often). There was an industry around that, mainly focused on discipline, shame, and some supplemental aids like appetite suppressants (uppers). Plus, diet/meal plans and such.
Then, the diet industry really kicked off with NO, it’s WHAT you eat and it can be magic if you just come to Jesus. Good foods and evil foods. Heaven and hell.
The problem is that there’s an inherent conflation. WHAT you eat CAN influence how much you eat and how often. But most of the fervent think that if I only eat heavenly foods, I’ll be redeemed and will live an everlasting life in heaven (at least until you die). So to speak. All the same lazy, internal, circular logic.
It’s the same mentality as Protestant evangelical religion, where, if you just say magic words, you can be redeemed.
… Well, that’s the nature of my thinking and trying to sort out better and more fundamental ways to think about this stuff, mirroring how humans basically think.
But here’s what I think too: peptides (the GLP-1s and newer ones) are going to obliterate the “what you eat” crowds. Because it will not matter anymore.

Wasn’t that the Catholics with the magic words, and the protestants didn’t like it? Anyway, the food-based religious wars will go on for a while nevertheless, because there’s so much inertia – in more than one sense ;-) and because it’s an industry. Just the same as with the churches ;-) After that – who knows what comes next?
