Squalor to Luxury Part II

It’s the 2nd installment. Here was the 1st.
Of course, that’s an AI image. In this case, I canned the Grok image generation. I don’t care for Grok Imagine that much anyway, so I used another AI, and it immediately got me what I was looking for to capture the idea of the post.
I didn’t expect to do a Part Two, but after I wrote Part One and waited a while, I got some input from people—exclusively private input. Nothing was posted as comments on the blog. There was one in particular that really caught me, and I thought I’d share it here.
I’ve also got another video about things I’m doing, a big step forward in taking my life into this rural area of Thailand, surrounded by tons of good people. So let’s get into the post.
So I get this out-of-the-blue email from Kelvin. Kelvin and I go way back. He’s an Australian who came to America—I guess probably in either the late ’80s or early ’90s—to work for someone who was a mutual friend of mine. He was the marketing director, and I finally crossed paths with him in about 1995, I think. We became buddies. We hung out together. His wife at the time in America actually worked for me as a sales agent for a while, and then later Kelvin himself did some marketing consulting work for my company. So there’s quite a lot of connection, but at the same time, it’s not like we’re always in communication with one another. And that’s why when I did that last post, Kelvin wrote an email to me, and I must share it with you.
Not true … I give an F about what you’re doing.
I think it’s great. Totally awesome actually.
You have the agency to make such a massive difference in people’s lives, and you’re doing it.
Awesome stuff!
I reply:
Thanks old friend. I really appreciate it.
Of course, I’ll just keep plugging along. I hope the sense of agency rubs off on a few.
Great identification. That’s exactly what it is. No permission.
He follows up:
The truth is – whether people tell you or not Richard …
You have probably affected changes in 1,000’s of people just by calling a spade a spade, and using abrasive language to break through the comatose most people live in.
Love you or loath you (lol), you make people THINK (more than they did before an encounter with you).
Hat tip to you, buddy!
But to today, I love what you’re doing. It’s wonderful stuff!
So.
My friend Kelvin uses that one word—agency—which really is the crux of the matter. It shook me out of a stupor, an impression that everything I do here is meaningless because nobody really cares. You’ll never move to Thailand, but there are many places in the world where you can capture your agency. This is just the one I picked. Very few people even understand what agency is as a human being. The simplest way to put it is that I’m my own man—or woman, as the case may be. Yet people use that phrase while lying through their teeth, because they’re not. Most are just kowtowing to institutional authorities or some higher being or whatever.
If you have agency, you never, ever take a knee. If you do, you have none. You have no agency as a human being. If you believe in a higher power, you have no true agency—you’re lying to yourself.
Take the recent case in the UK. A man gets stabbed, the cops show up, and the nigger who did the stabbing claims the victim uttered some racist remarks. What do those UK cops do, those pussy boys? They handcuff the stabbed man and leave him there until he dies. Now the usual outrage pours out, and people start “taking the knee” over it. I understand the sentiment. Outrage and support for the victim make sense. But taking the knee demonstrates zero agency. Nobody with true agency ever takes a knee for anyone. If there were a God, a Jesus Christ, or a Buddha, I would never fucking take a knee. Ever. I have maximum agency. I don’t give a fuck what anyone thinks—about anything, or about me. That is agency, and it’s a wonderful place to live.
Now, on to what I’m doing here in Thailand—moving from squalor to luxury. I hope you enjoy this video, which includes some Thai people who came out to bless our little abode.
Alright. Until the next time. Thanks for all the support.
